Notice of City of Bristol Virginia Democratic Caucus

The Bristol Virginia Democratic Committee hereby announces that it will hold an assembled caucus on Monday, December 12, 2011 in the first floor courtroom of the Bristol Virginia Courthouse, 497 Cumberland Street, Bristol, Virginia for the purpose of electing members to the Bristol Virginia Democratic Committee. Doors to the caucus will open at 6:00 p.m. for check-in and close at 6:30 p.m.

Any person attending the caucus, before participating in that caucus, shall sign a standardized Caucus Participation Form stating that he or she is a Democrat, believes in the principles of the Democratic Party, does not intend to support any candidate who is opposed to a Democratic nominee in the ensuing general election, and is a registered voter in the City of Bristol, Virginia. Caucus Participation Forms must be filled out at the caucus prior to voting. Doors to the caucus will be closed at 6:30 p.m., and no person may complete a form or enter the caucus after that time with the exception of those persons in line at the above mentioned time.

Bristol residents were able to meet an talk with Governor Kaine and Abingdon attorney John Lamie, who is running for Virginia Senate in the 40th District, at the 2011 Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion. The 40th State Senate District Democratic Committee hereby announces that they will hold an unassembled caucus at 7:00 p.m. on August 22, 2011 at the City of Bristol Courthouse for the purpose of nominating a candidate for the 40th Senatorial District.

Any person attending a caucus, before participating in that caucus, shall sign a standardized declaration for stating that he or she is a Democrat, does not intend to support any candidate who is opposed to a democratic nominee in the ensuing general election, and is a registered voter in such precinct or county or city. Declaration forms must be filled out at the caucus prior to 7:00 p.m. Doors to the caucus will be closed at that time and no person may complete a form or enter the caucus after that time with the exception of those persons in line at the above mentioned time.

Any person wishing to seek election as a delegate or alternate must prefile with Randall C. Eads, Chair of the 40th State Senate District Democratic Committee , 825 Colonial Road, Abingdon, VA 24210 no later than 5:00 p.m., August 22, 2011. A voluntary administrative fee of $10.00 (which may be waived) will be charged at the time of pre-filing for those wishing to be delegates or alternatives at the convention. There is no charge for those simply attending the caucus.

Any person seeking the nomination shall file the appropriate forms and pay the required fee no later than August 22, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. at 825 Colonial Road, Abingdon, VA 24210.
